Why it’s worth reflecting on what you learn. | Paul

​Try these questions:
  1. What did you learn lately?
  2. How did you do that?
  3. How exactly might you use this further in future?
​

​This deceptively simple sequence starts by having you find a recent, topical and personal example of learning. Then you examine and analyse your mechanism of learning. So the thrust is more of an interest in the description of a specific example than in an abstract or definition-based approach. And it concludes with the powerful idea of putting the learning to good use in the future.

Sometimes we only recognise that we have learned something when we hear and answer these sorts of questions. Strangely you may not realise you have learned something without checking on it. That means there’s real benefit in taking the time for the reflection.
