Programmes to develop leaders’ and managers’ coaching skills
Executives and managers too often fail to get the best from their staff.

When the leadership team at Merton Borough Council needed to raise performance, they asked us to train their managers to coach their direct reports. Within a year, the key concepts of Solutions Focus were making significant differences not only in one-to-one line relationships, but in better meetings, new policy formation and a generation of more confident managers.
Coaching as culture
Partnering with The Centre for Excellence in Leadership, we worked with The Greater Manchester Police as they introduced coaching as part of their leadership initiative. They wanted more of a coaching culture, and were setting up a group of internal coaches. This internal coaching team’s positive results included reports of increasing motivation within the organisation. They also applied their SF coaching techniques throughout the force. One senior leader, for example, not only coached his own team, he used his SF approach to run community meetings – reporting significant progress with collaboration with all the stakeholders, making progress ‘quicker and easier than ever before’.
